Trouble updating old Redirection installation

6 months ago | Enno (Member)

Hello,

I' working on an very big and manipulated WordPress-Installation to update it from a very old version to 2.9.1. Most of the work is done, but I got trouble with redirection. There are 2 tables "wp_redirection" and "wp_redirection_log" with hundreds of redirections in it used by Redirection 1.7.26. When deleting that old version and installing 2.1.25. it wouldn't read the redirections out of that table but just say, that no redirections are configured yet. Is there an easy way to automatically update the old database tables for being compatible with Redirection 2.1.25?

I didn't find any solution to that issue via internal Search or Google. If there is one, please paste the link here.

Many thanks! Yours,

Enno

Redirection 1.7.26 is very old and while the upgrade procedure should upgrade it, I can't guarantee that it will. If you send me the wp_redirection table I'll see if I can get it upgraded on my test site.

I simply have no idea why, but after another try, the normal way worked perfectly:

    - disable old Redirection plugin
    - delete it
    - copy new one into plugin dir
    - enable plugin
    - open redirection in backend and wait until upgrade is done

I'd really like to know why it didn't worked all the other times but changed a lot of thing cleaning up the wordpress installation.
