Problem with %%page%% tag
Hi John, I will send you a very solid donation if you please fix the following bug:
When I edit the global settings for the Home Page title and add "%%page%%" to the end, the 1. page (home) doesn't show the page number. Great! On the successive pages it shows "Page 2 of 234". Great!
However, when I add the same "%%page%%" to the global setting for Category pages, "Page 1 of 43" shows on the first page already. Can you disable the display for the first cat page please?
I pointed this out a few versions ago but noticed that the new version is still faulty.
Thanks,
Vlad

Also, was there ever a solution to the Archive problem? I want to have the archives titled like
Site Name - Month Year (Page 1 of X)
but I can't seem to be able to get it done.

When I leave the global template for Archives empty, all I see is:
March 2008
in the title for this month's archive.

The thing is, it's not a bug - that's how I designed it to work! I've added a feature request to give the option to change this (#111), as well as a feature request for month and year tags (#112).
What are you wanting to see in the month archive title?

Gotcha John, thanks for the clarification. As I happen to put a lot of emphasis on my category pages in terms of SEO, I'd really love that %%page%% feature to work the same way as on the homepage.
As for the month archive title, WP natively puts the right Month/Year combo (e.g. March 2008) in the title, maybe you can recycle that info somehow?
It would be great to put something like this in the global archive settings for title:
Blog Archive - %%archivedate%% - %%page%%
In that case,
http://www.blog.com/2008/03/
would have the following title:
Blog Archive - March 2008 Page (1 of 4)
Thanks for the great work John, the new tracker feature is awesome!
