Cannot add Drain Holes

3 months ago | Funky Monk (Member) | |

I'm really lost with getting to create a drain hole. No matter what I try I always get "The Drain Hole was not created - you must supply a unique URL (without http:// prefix) and directory"

I am using

URL: /download
Directory: /home/username/download/

Am I using the right details?

Do you have any other drain holes created? If not please report this in the bug tracker and include some more details about your setup (version of WP, screenshot of your drain hole page etc)

Not yet. If you can provide the above details then I'll be able to look at the issue

    WordPress: 2.6.2
    Drain Hole Version: 2.1.8

I add the hole, and it takes me to /wp-admin/edit.php?page=drain-hole.php with only the admin header, no admin footer, no wrap div. No error outputted at all.

Can you add it to the Drain Hole bug tracker along with a screenshot of your drain hole configuration and of the error

I have the same problem. I just downloaded the plugin today and am trying it out with default options. When I try to create a drain hole, I get a 500 Server Error. In the server error log, I find the following:

Premature end of script headers: edit.php, referer: http://my-web-site.org/wp-admin/edit.php?page=drain-hole.php

    I am using WP 2.5.1.

[I just tried to edit my profile to change the displayed name, but the "profile" link a the top of the page leads to an error page about redirects that will never end.]

You could try increasing your servers memory limit, it may be something as simple as running out of memory.

I'm unable to get into the issue tracker now, so I'm not sure how to register.

    My server runs on cPanel / WHM / CENTOS / PHP5 / WordPress 1.6.2 / Drain Hole 2.1.9

You need to login to the tracker with the same username/password as here. I've had to stop allowing anonymous reports for the moment as it was being targetted by spammers and causing the site to fall over. If you can post a screenshot of your drain hole configuration, or email it to me, then I'll see if anything looks wrong.

Hello, I have the same problem as above... When I try to add a drain-hole, I get a blank browser page and IE tells me "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"

I'm using Drain Hole 2.1.9 with Wordpress 2.6.2.

I added an issue to the issue tracker, but it was deleted for some reason.

You'll have to help me replicate this because it works fine for me in IE7

    Hey John,

Would it help if I emailed you my login info for my site so you can go in and take a look yourself? Cause seriously, I'm stumped!

    Thanks for the time.

Today i downloaded the drainhole plugin and when i tried creating a drainhole i get a blank page without any message or buttons nothing only on the top i get the wordpress options but the drainhole is gone. I tried with previous versions also like 2.1.5 but same thing happened now i think the wordpress version 2.6.2 is not compatible with this drainhole plugin

The plugin is compatible with WP 2.6.2 but there is a bug. I've added this to the test tracker and it will be fixed soon

    Hello John,

Just downloaded and installed the newest version, and unfortunately it still doesn't work. This time around, it doesn't give me a completely blank page, but loads the header of the admin area all the way up to the navigation, but nothing else.

Sorry for being such a hassle, but this plugin is perfect for what I need it for (especially since it supports Google Analytics). I will definately donate if it ever gets working.

Feel free to poke around my wordpress install to see for yourself.

    Thanks for the time.

Are you by any chance running this on a windows machine?

I'm pretty sure i'm hosted on a linux box. I have mediatemple's (dv) hosting plan.

Hmm, I was hoping you were on Windows as that would have explained the problem. If you can send me an admin login for the site you want to try this on then I can take a look and see if I can see what's happening.

Just an FYI. I tried drain-hole on a clean wordpress install and got the same behavior. Leads me to believe that it's my host rather than a conflict with another plugin.
