First of all here is what I want to achieve:

If no title is entered for a page, the default should be displayed as set up headspace2 => page settings => pages

If a title is entered while editing a page I'd like that title to be prepended to my sitename and separated by "|" , i.e. "my cool page title | mycoolsite.com"

Is it possible to set up headspace2 so that if a title is given to a page the sitename or something I chose gets added to it?

I have set up the defaults headspace2 => page settings => pages like this: "%%title%% | %%sitename%%" and if I don't give a page a title, the result in the browser looks like: "%%title%% | %%sitename%% :" obviously a separator ":" gets added by my theme and I know I can change this under headspace2 => page modules => page title in the separator field but what I don't understand at all why do I need a separator? I mean separating my title from what?

On the other hand, if I enter a title for a page, the browser simply displays that title with the separator appended or prepended. Again what is this separator for?

Hello,
The Page Title character limit is set to 0, on both Page Edit and Global Settings. The limit on Page Edit is configurable on "Page Modules".

I have a couple of questions:

Why is the character limit set to 0 by default?

Where can I change the character limit for Page Settings->Global Settings?

Hi guys, I have the same problem..

This question might not be specifically related to headspace but it might be. Now that I am done with my wife’s website and she is up to speed with adding all her “fabulous” recipes (shameless plug for my babe http://www.recipetrezor.com

I now created a site for me, I am using word press 2.8 for my wife’s and 2.9.2 for my site http://www.photoconcept.net, please don’t ask me to upgrade her (if it’ not broke-I am not going to fix it)

My question is as follow:

when I google recipetrezor.com by putting (site:www.recipetrezor.com) - google returns results showing the title of the posts only and discription below, which I like.

When I google my site the same way site:www.photoconcept.net google always returns the words
(Photo Concept>>) to the left, then the post title. I find this very distracting because most of the time the post title is descriptive of the contents of the post.

What am I doing wrong I set up both sites the same

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I enjoy using Headspace with the exception of one problem: every single page title has a "»" (») preceding it. This used to be part of the original Arthemia coding (my theme) but I have since taken it out because I don't like it. Now, somehow Headspace has adopted this same practice and I can't get rid of it. Nowhere in my Headspace settings can I see the "»" being used and I'm wondering if maybe there's a cache that I can clear that might get rid of it? (see: http://www.farwestchina.com)

My debugging process proved to me that the problem lies with Headspace, not anywhere in my coding, because when I erased my headspace titles, the "»" also went away.

If there isn't an easy solution then I want to find out how to reinstall Headspace. If I do so will I lose all the metadata that I have put into it? How can I ensure that this won't happen?

Thanks in advance for all your help.
Josh

<?php endwhile; ?>

^^Will pull up the Title for the last post on the list and not the Title of the Page I have setup in the Page's HeadSpace. (Yes the headspace2 Page Setting is set to %%title%%)

I want to have custom link titles of categories and since I already use Headspace2, I think it would be good idea to use its custom fields. But there is a problem.. I don't know how to integrate Headspace2 custom fields in my template file..

Example:
Some cat

I am having the exact same type of problem as TeMc.

The person who post the message "seems" to have solved the issue, but I am still in the dark.
I search for "Once upon a time" in quotes and nothing comes up, even though it is in the excerpt and it has been properly indexed.
Once upon a time with no quotes comes up but as individual word highlights. Once upon a does not yield any results and neither does Once upon.
All of these search queries should at least be bringing up the same result.

Also single words like That and Myself, which are in the database index, show no results.
Any help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi,

I'm using Search Unleashed and have been for a while now. Lots of it's features are very much to my liking (for example the meta data search and comment search, awesome !)

However as of today I noticed some things missing. The bug might be in there for a long while, or since the last update. Not sure.

The following are two examples which re-construct this bug.

Case 1: Title
I have a blogpost with the title "Ribs & Blues 2009". However when searching for "ribs" it doens't return any results at all.
When I search for "ribs en blues" (not the, but the way it's mentioned in the article) then it does return the right result.
Including the words 'Ribs" and "Blues" highlighted in the title on the search results page. However both "ribs" and "blues" as single-word searches do not return this article.

-> Bug: Search Unleashed seems to completly ignore post titles, however it does highight the search phrase in the title of there are results.

Case 2: Full content
I haver a (quite large) page called "Archive" with somewhere halfway down the page a certain name of a person (ie. Shawn Jones).
A search on this name, again, doesn't return a single thing.

-> Bug: It appears the full content (meaning the content that is not
the_excerpt()
and not before
<!--more-->
is not being searched through.

My settings

I've re-indexed the site (several times actually) but results remain the same.

--
TeMc

PS: Here's the pages in question:
http://oerknor.nl/?s=ribs
http://oerknor.nl/?s=ribs+en+blues
http://oerknor.nl/ribs-blues-2009/
http://oerknor.nl/archiefoverzicht/

PS2: Weird thing is, all other modules work fine. I type in a single word that once appeared in a comment and Search Unleashed serves it right away. No issues there at all.

	if (is_home () ) { bloginfo('name'); }

	elseif (is_single() ) { single_post_title(); echo " - "; bloginfo('name'); }
	elseif (is_page() ) { single_post_title(); echo " - "; bloginfo('name'); }
	else { wp_title('',true); echo " - "; bloginfo('name'); } ?>

But my echo '%%pagenumber%%' isn't working.
I make other test, but I can't solve my trouble.

Hi

I've just spent the day trying out Headspace and there seems to be a small problem with the Title / Blog Name ordering.

My theme has header.php set up to produce <title> in order: Head Space Title / Blog Name

This is great for internal pages where keywords related to page content should appear first.

But what about if you have a home.php page?

In that case the best order would be: Blog Name / Head Space Title

As your Blog name should feature the most important keywords required for the homepage.

So, is there any way to be able to control the ordering so it appears:
Home page : Blog Name / Head Space Title
Internal pages : Head Space Title / Blog Name

Great plugin and looking forward to mastering it.

The » symbol is added by your theme, not HeadSpace. To remove it you will need to edit header.php in your theme directory

As to qtranslate - thanks, I tried to contact them already.

Regarding the description - Yes, I know this is the way it is working. But what I would like to ask is if, when editing an article, it were not possible that the description field is automatically filled in with whatever I defined to put in there (for example the excerpt). Because the way I use it is that I most often don't use the exact text, but only use it as a starting point. But this is only something for the wishlist.

Unfortunately, there is still my main problem with the Blog Title still showing up in the title, i.e. my title has both - first the blog title and then the title I defined ...

Thanks again!

The qtranslate issue is something you'll need to look into with the qtranslate website. I would imagine that there is a function you can call that will convert some text with square braces into a localised version. This will need to be called in your title.

When you configure HeadSpace to use the excerpt for the description this is an automatic action. If you then put some text into the excerpt field of a particular post this will override the automatic action for that post only. This way there is no need for any copy and pasting.

The order is determined by your theme, not by HeadSpace. Look in your theme's header.php file

Hi there,

I have exactly this problem - that whatever I do, I always get the Blog Title before everything else I specify. As I read this entry, I of course checked in my header.php and solved part of the problem (that my keywords and descriptions didn't show) in that I deleted the tags altogether in the header.php. And I also changed my title tag so it looks exactly as the one above - with the result that I always get the Blog Title first, followed by a ">>", and if its a single post page, I also get the "Blog Archive" phrase ...

Another problem is related to the qtranslate plugin that I use which puts everything in language tags. So if I try to use the page title I get something like "<title>Zusammenleben in Israel » [lang_de]Ihre Fragen[/lang_de][lang_en]Your Questions[/lang_en] | Zusammenleben in Israel</title>". I know that this is probably none of your business. But maybe you do have an idea what I could do about it?

And then I have a last question: If I specify under general settings that for example the exerpt should be used for description, it would be nice if this would already be filled in the respective field, so I could just edit this without having to copy and paste. Besides, when I'm inside the article editing it, I might not remember - in fact, I do not remember - what I specified in the genereal settings ;-) Would it be possible to integrate this?

I really would appreaciate your help with this!
Thanks + best regards
Martina

The order of the title in the browser header is Site Title then Page Title. Is there some way to change that order so that the page title comes before the site title? I assumed that this was automatic.

This is the title code from the default theme (header.php):

<title><?php bloginfo('name'); ?> <?php if ( is_single() ) { ?> &raquo; Blog Archive <?php } ?> <?php wp_title(); ?></title>

I don't know what 'display_page_title' is from, but it won't achieve any output from HeadSpace.

%%date%% on an archive page should be replaced with the date of the archive, not of the last post. If this isn't occuring could you create a bug report with some details? An example URL (or screenshot of a non-working page) along with a screenshot of the setting that caused this would be very useful too.

In terms of good defaults the title is very important for search engines, and so should represent the page being viewed - the more appropriate the words, the better the potential ranking. If you don't want to type a description for every post then a good 'cheat' is to set the global page/post description to %%excerpt%%. This will cause HeadSpace to automatically generate the description using the post excerpt (or post content if no excerpt exists). If you do want custom descriptions on specific pages then you can override it without affecting everything else.

Headspace is a great plugin. Great functions and great usability.

I came across two problems my on my archive page like http://www.blogadresse.de/2008/03/. Headspace put the date of the last post in the title. I just use %%date%% for it. Is it wrong?

Second I don't know what setting are good for titles and description. Could someone post some good "defaults"?

Thanks

Hi:

trying to figure out why my blogtitle is still showing in the <title> tag.

my header template shows:

<head><title><?php do_action('display_page_title'); ?></title>
<?php
do_action('wp_head');
?>
</head>

but no matter what I put in the global settings or the post or page title; the blogname still shows first followed by the title tag. As a matter of fact the specified post or page title only show if I don't specify any global settings at all. ( Aren't the post tags supposed to supercede the global settings when present?)

I tried several themes and different browsers but the problem persists. any help greatly appreciated

thank you
